Our History
MITTFL was established in 2001 by Founder/CEO Gladys Pearson. Ms. Pearson envisioned an organization that would serve as a place for girls and women to develop the skills necessary to grow academically, emotionally, socially, spiritually and culturally. In the last decade the vision has expanded to include all community memebrs, male and female alike.
Our Passion
Our passion is mentoring. MITTFL offers group and individual mentoring through its various programs as well as opportunites to demonstrate what has been gained through those relationships. We believe, when done well, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity

Our Perspective
Mentoring is a key component to growth. Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter.
Our People
More than half of our volunteers/staff members are educators or former educators. All of us believe in the limitless potential of children and youth.
